Oct 10th, 2009 by admin

October 18, 2009
4:00 pm

Houston Person is widely regarded as today’s leading champion of the blues or soul-influenced school of jazz, in the style of such greats as Gene Ammons, Hank Mobley, and Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis.  He has recorded more than 75 albums as a leader, and the list of artists with whom he has worked reads like a “Who’s Who” of jazz.  For many years, he collaborated with the great jazz vocalist, Etta Jones. Houston’s outstanding rhythm section will consist of long-time Evansville favorites, pianist Steve Allee of Indianapolis, and Louisville standouts, bassist Tyrone Wheeler and drummer Jonathan Higgins.

Tickets:  $15 adults; $10 Evansville Jazz Society members; $5 students
