Jazz trumpeter Pat Harbison grew up in New Albany, where he now resides once again. He has performed with his own jazz groups and as guest soloist at jazz concerts, festivals, and clubs on six continents. He has recorded and released six CDs as leader or co-leader and is the author of numerous articles and books on jazz and trumpet playing. Harbison holds degrees from Indiana University and the University of Louisville. He is Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies at Indiana University, where he taught from 1997-2023. He currently serves as Clinical Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana). He was previously on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati from 1984-1997. He was on the faculty of Jamey Aebersold’s Summer Jazz Workshops from 1976-2019. He is also the founding director of Jazz Retreats, which stages small group jazz improvisation learning sessions for adults.

Meghan Pund is a saxophonist and clarinetist residing in Louisville. Her musical interests and endeavors span many different genres. While pursuing an undergraduate degree in classical clarinet, Meghan attended Jamey Aebersold’s Summer Jazz Workshops. The experiences she had there led her to pursue a graduate degree (and a life) in jazz. Meghan performs frequently in different ensembles throughout Kentucky and Indiana such as Brazukas, a Brazilian group led by her husband, Diego, Old Lou’s Ragtime Band, which she co-leads with tubist Jeff Beers, the Don Krekel Orchestra, and many others.

Ana Nelson, a versatile clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer, is celebrated for her boundary-crossing expertise in classical and jazz genres. Her debut jazz album, “Bridges,” released in 2022, has garnered widespread acclaim and achieved international recognition on radio and music charts. Currently, Ana is pursuing a doctoral degree in Clarinet Performance at Indiana University and holds Master’s degrees. in Jazz Studies (Saxophone) and Music Performance (Clarinet) from IU.

Bassist Alex Hoberty Is an Indianapolis native studying at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, pursuing a degree in Jazz Upright Bass. She has great interests in different rhythmic traditions through jazz’s history, being a past member of IU’s Latin Jazz Ensemble as well as many small ensembles of different genres. Her current mentors include IU Professors Christian Dillingham and Sean Dobbins, as well as recently retired IU Professor Pat Harbison. She takes inspiration from the great driving bass players of the 1960s, and has the diverse skill set required to work playing jazz and many other musical styles.

Fiona Palensky is a multi-genre drummer based out of Louisville. She can be found in music scenes around town and in nearby cities every week in one the many groups she plays for. In addition, she writes for the Louisville Public Media podcast “The Music Box”, an educational music show for all ages.

Diego Lyra is a Brazilian pianist/composer currently living in Louisville. He earned a Masters of Music in Jazz Composition and Performance from University of Louisville (2014) and a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from West Virginia University (2012). As a pianist, Diego performs actively in the Louisville area with the jazz community greats including Jamey Aebersold, Mike Hyman, Tim Whalen, Tyrone Wheeler, Carly Johnson and Craig Wagner. Lyra had the honor to be selected to attend the prestigious Ravinia Steans Music Institute – Program for Jazz in 2014.
