The Louisville Jazz Society is thrilled to present the Chip McNeill Quartet featuring Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and composer Chip McNeill along with jazz masters Phil DeGreg on piano, Jeremy Allen on bass, and Louisville’s own Mike Hyman on drums. Don’t miss this concert featuring jazz classics and original compositions performed at the highest level!
Saxophonist, composer, and educator Chip McNeill is Chair of Jazz Performance at University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne and former Musical Director and tenor saxophonist for Grammy award-winning recording artist, Arturo Sandoval. McNeill won a Grammy for his performance on Sandoval’s recording Hot House, and two of his charts were nominated for Grammys from the recording. He also has performed and toured with the legendary jazz trumpeter, Maynard Ferguson, with whom he has produced, written, and performed on several CDs. He has recorded performances with Nat Adderley, David Liebman, Ira Sullivan, and the Woody Herman Orchestra, and has performed with a long list of jazz luminaries, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Joe Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstine, and Wynton Marsalis.
