On Saturday August 29, 2026, 66+ souls responded to the call out to area Jazz Musicians to assemble at The Lincoln Memorial for a group photo. A huddle under the shade trees August day. A gathering inspired by Art Kane’s A Great Day in Harlem photo shoot on a hot August day in 1958. The call to photo session became a call to fellowship and joyous interlacing greets and conversations. Just as a gracious cloud floated over the sun, Jamey Aebersold counted down a hand full of shots. As the cloud moved on the greets and spirited conversations began again –
Now it’s time to see what was captured and revisit the fellowship of our Jazz Community – On A Fine Kentucky Day.
You are invited to see posters, prints, books and choose which image will become the shot known as On A Fine Kentucky Day! A time to be festive and celebrate our Jazz Community.
Refreshments provided. Brought to you by the Louisville Jazz Society in concert with Meghan Pund and Jeffery Parrish Studio.
