The Louisville Jazz Society launches its Masters Series of concerts with this inaugural event featuring renowned New York jazz guitarist Steve Cardenas in a trio setting with Jeremy Allen on bass and Mike Hyman on the drums.
Steve has performed and recorded with many well-known and highly esteemed musicians. Notably, he was a longstanding member of the Paul Motian Electric Bebop Band, Charlie Haden Liberation Music Orchestra, and the Steve Swallow Quintet. Steve is currently a member of the John Patitucci Electric Guitar Quartet and Adam Nussbaum Lead Belly Project. He has also performed with such diverse artists as Claude “Fiddler” Williams, Paul McCandless, Madeleine Peyroux, Norah Jones, Eliane Elias and Marc Johnson. Steve has toured extensively throughout Europe, North and South America and Asia, performing at international music festivals, theaters and clubs.
Joining Steve will be Grammy-nominated bassist Jeremy Allen who has performed with such jazz luminaries Fred Hersch, Mike Stern, David Liebman, and Bob Brookmeyer and is currently Professor of Music in Jazz Studies at the Indiana Jacobs School of Music.
Louisville’s own Mike Hyman will round out the trio on drums. Mike’s stellar career began in his teens when he toured and recorded with legendary tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson.
