One of Louisville’s saxophone elites, Tim Whalen spent many years in New York where he performed with such luminaries as organist “Brother” Jack McDuff, Sammy Davis Jr., Rosemary Clooney, Johnny Hartman and others. Since moving back to Louisville in 2005, Tim has been a fixture on the jazz scene leading the jazz quintet The Buzzard while also touring with the Harry James Orchestra.
This concert features Tim in a trio format with Diego Lyra on organ and Mike Hyman on drums. Tim’s encyclopedic knowledge of jazz repertoire promises a burning set of tunes with plenty of surprises drawn from all genres.
